Jabil Circuit, Inc., designs and manufactures circuit boards
and systems for original equipment manufacturers in the
communications, personal computer, and automotive markets.
The company has automated manufacturing facilities in the
USA (Florida, Michigan, Idaho, and California), Scotland,
Italy, Malaysia, China, and Mexico. So when Jabil had a
200,000 square foot office and manufacturing requirement
in New England, it turned to its preferred provider, Signature
Associates - ONCOR International.
Signature has been
providing industrial real estate services to Jabil since
1982. Their first assignment was to move Jabil out of its
original 16,000 square foot building into a 50,000 square
foot facility in Madison Heights, Michigan. That transaction
lead to eight others over the years; and Jabil's requirements
in Boston seemed a natural for Signature.
We immediately contacted
Meredith & Grew - ONCOR International to assist with the
special requirements this transaction involved. Jabil wanted
to open its first facility in the Boston area and, at the
time, the market was extremely tight. After a thorough market
search, they were able to locate an older, existing 500,000
square foot building which could be divided and meet Jabil's
requirements. One of the obstacles was the tremendous amount
of renovation needed to bring the building to satisfactory
condition for the client. The brokers skillfully negotiated
a significant tenant improvement package to modify the building.
Jabil's needs were met and it was extremely pleased with
final location and negotiated package. The facility opened
within five months after the lease was signed. Jabil recently
took another 300,000 sq. ft. in this building.
