Feilbach Building receives $5M in tax credits for restoration

A historic Toledo building will receive tax credits to help with its restoration, among others, Gov. Mike DeWine announced on Thursday.
The Feilbach Building, owned by IBC Properties, has been approved for $5 million in tax credits to build apartments and commercial spaces at the South Superior Street property.
The credits come from the Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit program, which distributed $86 million to support the preservation and revitalization of historic buildings across the state.
At the Feilbach Building, the money will be used to create three commercial spaces on the first floor and to convert the second through sixth floors into 40 apartments.
It’ll also support window restoration, storefront work, and masonry repairs. Interior work will create modern residential and commercial space with all new building systems and finishes.
“These buildings honor the legacy of our communities and reflect the character that makes our state unique,” said Gov. DeWine. “This program supports Ohio’s future by creating jobs, attracting new businesses, and revitalizing the areas that need it most.”
Projects in Akron, Alliance, Canton, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Mansfield, Marietta, Springfield, and Youngstown were also awarded tax credits.
